Early in January 2018 the school was inspected by Ofsted and the team are delighted to share the judgements made by the inspector of ‘Outstanding in all Areas’. Ann Henderson, School Principal said. “Working with the leadership team we have evaluated ourselves as outstanding for some time now. We were keen for Ofsted to come and see our work and are pleased they were in agreement with our own conclusions.” Ann went on to say “we are immensely proud of the staff and the children for their continuous efforts and energy they put into everything they do at Underley Garden School.”
In the report, the Inspectors made the following comments: “The quality of leadership and management, including governance, is outstanding and has significantly improved since the last inspection.” “Pupils benefit from outstanding teaching…Teachers and Teaching Assistants have exceptionally high expectations of pupils and an in depth understanding of how they learn.” “Pupils make exceptional progress … teachers and other adults are experts at measuring pupil’s progress.” “The care and support provided by .. the therapy, psychology and medical team .. is second to none.” “All aspects of post 16 provision are exceptionally well led and managed… Outstanding, tailored provision helps to ensure that students enjoy their time in post 16 provision and make excellent progress.” Most importantly, the inspector reported “Parents are highly complimentary about the school…morale is high among staff…Pupils’ behaviour is excellent. They attend regularly and thoroughly enjoy coming to school.”
Iain Anderson, Group Chief Executive said “The professional dedication of the team at Underley Gardens is fantastic and their commitment to the pupils makes a real difference to each child or young person. I am extremely proud of what they have achieved under Ann’s direction and leadership”
The School plans to celebrate with the staff and children their amazing achievement and the team has planned a full programme of further improvements to ensure their outstanding status is sustainable.
